Kick off women's history month by celebrating some rad ladies of music in this fun, tournament style listening game!
I'll be honest, I know very little about the actual March Madness sports event.... However, I love the idea of pitting various artists and styles together for my students to introduce them to new music and learn more about their preferences, and what better way to do so than with this tournament style presentation! You can absolutely customize it by changing song titles, genres, YouTube videos, and even including your own pictures of artists/bands (I just pulled everything off Google). Check the speaker notes on the video slides for simple directions on how to add other YouTube videos. In addition, I made a corresponding playlist on Spotify which can be accessed here and it's also listed in the speaker notes on the title slide. Finally, every music video I've included is 100% clean (meaning there are no swear words or sexually explicit content), but do note that "Juice" by Lizzo on Spotify is the unedited version and does contain some explicit content (I used the clean version of the video in the presentation).
This presentation is 100% FREE to download! If you find this to be a successful presentation with your students and would like to give back, however, donations via Venmo (Danielle-Keaton) or Cashapp (dkeaton94) are very much appreciated! Finally, if you would like to share with others, please direct them to my website, Facebook, or Instagram instead of sharing your copy of the presentation directly. Thanks so much for checking it out!
Hi Danielle! I used this last year with my group at an adult clubhouse program. Since we provide weekly sessions there for clinical practicum we spread this out over the entire month as a portion of each session. The clubhouse members had a great time with this and it was really easy to use and adapt artist selections to the group's cultural identities and preferences. Thank you for sharing this!
